The video Sovereign Citizens and Law Enforcement is a look at the dark underbelly of radical anti-government groups in the U.S. It describes the existence and behavior of the self-styled sovereign citizens movement, which denies the authority of government to impose taxes or regulate behavior, while enjoying the protection and infrastructure provided by that same government. Members of the movement are not only gullible to myths, they carry their beliefs to violent extremes, as the video demonstrates. It is well worth watching, to learn the tactics and the language which distinguishes such people from the rest of us. The range of beliefs and actions which are falsely cloaked beneath the image of the American flag is shocking.
The video was produced by the Southern Poverty Law Center, an "American civil rights movement dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society. The SPLC is internationally known for its tolerance education programs, its legal victories against white supremacists, and its tracking of hate groups, militias, and extremists organizations."
I'm baffled by a mentality which embraces so many self-contradictions. When that mentality turns ugly and violent, then the full force of the law is an appropriate response. Too bad we can't simply ship these nut cases back to their home planet, where they could simply assassinate each other into extinction.
