  1. In particular, Pattern Recognition, a bit of an OCD statement by Casey, who is a genius with a hyper-sensitive feeling about fad an fashion. Much less of a dystopian world than most of his previous work. The one following it is also uplifting, being that it is post-post 9/11.

  2. you nailed it. i'm about 2/3 through the book. the protag's name is cayce, pronounced casey. i kind of liked Spook Country better. the plot and associated lingo was less esoteric, but perhaps that's just me.

  3. Spook Country is better and more comfortable. Pattern recognition is slightly frightening, but the main character is sympathetic and likable, if a bit odd.
